TEACHING-LEARNING PROCESS
All academic activities are aimed at elevating the students’ knowledge, skills and building confidence in them.
To enhance the effectiveness, a blended mode of learning is largely implemented involving Student centric methods, such as experiential learning, participative learning and problem-solving methodologies as well as industry needs are used for enhancing learning experiences.
Our college is a blended plethora of Experiential learning, participative learning and problem-solving methodologies. These are well adapted to ensure the holistic development of students and facilitate life-long learning and knowledge management. |
Experiential learning
- Practical courses (laboratory) including virtual labs (Ex: Tally for Professionals) are made compulsory in the curriculum.
- Different learning methods viz. problem-based, case-based, project-based, inquiry based, computation-based, co-operative (work- or community-based) are implemented wherever feasible.

- Organization of exhibitions and open houses projecting senior students’ achievements on a regular basis are a source of motivation for younger students at the college.
- Conducting investigations for solving complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
- Studio performances are practised to facilitate learners understand the deficiencies, leading to improvement in further endeavours. These sessions remove fear, tension, and deterring emotions. (Ex. Mass Comm. Lab)
Problem solving methodologies adopted are:
- Giving assignments and quizzes at the end of instruction of each unit.
- Case Study Analysis and Discussion.
Facilitating the creation of a learner-centric environment conducive to quality education and faculty development to adopt the required knowledge and technology for participatory teaching and learning process:
- Collection and analysis of feedback from all stakeholders on quality-related institutional processes.
- Documentation of the various programmes/activities leading to quality improvement;
- The Institution has adequate infrastructure and physical facilities for teaching – learning, viz., classrooms, laboratories, computing equipment, etc.
- The institution reviews its teaching learning process, structures & methodologies of operations and learning outcomes at periodic intervals.
Steps for Catering to Student Diversity
· The institution assesses the learning levels of the students and organises special Programmes for advanced learners and slow learners like the Bridge Courses organised at the beginning of Session, acts as a buffer for the entrants of all the courses.
· The institution has well-planned multi-level strategies that are implemented from time to time to address the issues of diversity in students’ learning levels. Initial cues of the students’ learning abilities are obtained from their performance in the qualifying examination, entrance examination and the induction training program conducted immediately after the admission. Since then, the students are trained by the respective faculty members during their course work, catering to their needs and putting conscious effort to remove their difficulties. · The actual stratification of students into slow, average and advanced learners is based on their performance in the series of internal examinations and a continuous follow-up taken up thereafter till the course completion by the concerted efforts of teaching faculty, course coordinator and Head of the department. We also organise Parent Teacher Meeting for a better control on student learning. · Special remedial classes are arranged for the slow learners before or beyond the regular class schedule on specific days for each course and individual attention is paid for improving the students’ level of learning, problem solving and presentation. · Slow learners are further assisted through individualized counselling sessions by the class Mentors and Head of Departments. Most of the students’ problems are resolved by these efforts and if felt necessary, the parents are called in for additional help to their ward. · The soft and communication skills are given special emphasis for the students from rural Background to improve these skills and thereby bring them at par with regular learners. To support the advanced learners, college conducts /encourages Programs like case study workshops, report writing, campus specific training etc. |
